The Power of Anger

Imagine an emotional energy so powerful that it is the core dynamic and driving force of social anxiety, panic, and obsessive worry. It is so insidious that, when not controlled, it drives a myriad of physical symptoms including anxiety attacks, pain, conversation freeze, facial blushing and hyper-hidrosis, which are common examples of an overall fear of being noticeably nervous. In addition, this energy is the root cause of most depression.

This insidious energy is repressed anger. It is often confusing and complicated to understand because many individuals (of all ages) who experience it are not aware of it. This is because there are different levels of consciousness; conscious, mid-conscious and unconscious. Often the anger resides at non-conscious domains.

This lack of awareness is the result of detachment or disconnecting. The result of detachment is repressed energy. Detachment is the doorway to avoidance. Therefore; if one is to gain control of anxiety, relevant issues and dynamics need to be brought to a conscious and functional level.

Adapting the methodology of Jon Sarnow, M.D. to the Berent Methodogy has proven to be a powerful clinical strategy. The therapeutic objective is learning to channel the recycling and repressed anger into productive energy.

Here’s another way to understand this phenomenon. An important tool in the Berent Methodology is mind state training. If you study the “before” and “after” ego-graphs on the performance anxiety page you will see that the “natural child” mind state is increased as a therapeutic objective (on the “after” graph). When the “truth of desire”, processes of exploration and discovery, as well as spontaneity, are activated, anger is no longer repressed and recycled as more happiness is attained.
