The “Dog Days” of August

It’s that time of year when the baseball races are heating up. There’s a lot of anxiety if you are a Red Sox fan like me. It’s also that time of year when families are preparing for their children to return to school. Parents who have been denying their kids’ problems with selective mutism will soon get hit with reality once again after the respite of summer. The few weeks before Labor Day characterize the immobility of individuals to take action with anxiety. After all, it’s hot and it’s still summer.

I recently received a contract from John Wiley & Sons (Publishers) to write a new book;

“Work Makes Me Nervous: Overcome Anxiety And Build the Confidence to Succeed”

It will cover topics like:

While the book will be out in the summer of 2010, I’m currently getting a head start with my writing in the "dog days of August". For your interest my first book, "Beyond Shyness: How to Conquer Social Anxieties" (Simon & Schuster) has sold over 60,000 copies. While there are many books on social anxiety I truly believe that this one was based on the most clinical experience.

The philosophy inherent in my clinical work (as well as my personal life) is that your most valuable asset is "time". You can borrow money. You cannot borrow time. Time is not elastic it does not stretch. You may be interested in listening to anxiety sufferers who bought into this philosophy and resolved their anxiety. Click here to listen. There is an extensive library of interviews with real patients.

Also there are free seminars on “Performance Anxiety and Blushing” and “Selective Mutism

One last thing! For individuals who want to use "the dog days of August" to their advantage I have a special one time offer. My comprehensive 10 hour audio CD self-therapy program, which sells for $299 plus shipping is available for $199 plus shipping if you order by August 31, 2009. Use code # 809.

Wishing you good health and high performance,
