Parental Guidelines for Facilitating Change
in the Socially Disabled
If your son or daughter is socially handicapped, it is imperative that as a parent, you have a strategy or game plan in effect to ensure any productivity in facilitating change. In fact, the only scenario where you would not need this game plan is if you have an adult child who is living out of the home, and who is substantially independent (financially, emotionally, and functionally). A major component of a social handicap is social avoidance. Usually, being overly dependent on parents, other family members, or guardians is part of this unhealthy balance. This 17-step methodology is for parents of a socially handicapped child of any age.
